In 2013, Nudie Jeans opened its first official store in the United Kingdom, in London’s Soho, and with it the country’s first Repair Shop: a store designed, from the ground up, to repair jeans rather than just sell them.

Repair as brand strategy, not as an after-sales service

The Swedish brand, founded in Gothenburg, has been repairing any broken Nudie jean for free, for life, since 2007: torn knees, unstitched hems, blown-out pockets. In its early years, that repair work was done in its own stores that already had a sewing machine, mainly in Sweden. As demand began growing abroad, the company formalized the service under the name «Global Repair Station» and turned it into the physical heart of every new opening, including this one in Covent Garden/Soho.

The underlying message is clear, and today, amid the conversation around circular fashion and ecodesign, it feels even more relevant than it did in 2013: a premium jean isn’t thrown away, it’s repaired. And that gesture, shown right in the window with the sewing machine in full view of the customer, is pure visual merchandising. Repair stops being a warranty errand hidden in a back room and becomes the store’s main scene.

Store design in service of the workshop

The Repair Station is organized around the repair counter as its focal point, with denim hung around it more like workwear than conventional sales racks. It’s an exercise in visual merchandising that prioritizes process over product: the customer watches stitching happen, not just shopping.

This London opening joined Nudie Jeans’ network of own stores in Stockholm, Tokyo, Los Angeles, Berlin, Zurich, Barcelona, Sydney and Gothenburg itself, cementing the Repair Shop as a replicable format for every new market, not a one-off British exception.

Nudie Jeans has opened the doors of its first store in London, and its first official repair shop. The store is in Soho. The store concept represents the true essence of the brand and its sustainable qualities, matching Nudie Jeans’ premium organic denim tone, aligning it with the stores already running in Stockholm, Tokyo, Los Angeles, Berlin, Zurich, Barcelona, Sydney and Nudie Jeans’ hometown, Gothenburg.
