Who I am

I’m Juan Carlos Barrón García, founder of Maison Barron and director of BARRONVISUAL, a phygital retail design studio. I’ve spent 28 years working as a visual merchandiser, window dresser and phygital retail consultant, moving between physical stores and online stores.

My career spans Zara France (Inditex) in Paris, CHANEL, Fun&Basics, Lladró Comercial, Inside Shops, EXHIBO VM and Galeries Lafayette in Perpignan, with active clients such as the Tendam group and Chanel. Trained at the London College of Fashion and Central Saint Martins, among other schools, I work in Spanish, French and English from my studio in Zamora.

What this blog is

This is the retail backstage: what happens behind a window display that works, a store that converts, a website that sells just as well as its physical store. You won’t find textbook theory here, but visual merchandising, window display and phygital retail told from the inside, with real cases, unfiltered opinion and the judgment that comes from 28 years spent in fitting rooms, window displays and KPI meetings.

If you want to read my full career story, you can find it on the History page. And if what you’re looking for is to activate your Store or your Brand, you can start at BARRONVISUAL.

Why I got into this

I got into window display almost by accident, dressing windows in neighborhood shops before the word «phygital» even existed. From there to Zara France (Inditex) in Paris, to CHANEL, to Galeries Lafayette in Perpignan, to Lladró, to Fun&Basics, to EXHIBO VM, to Inside Shops. Twenty-eight years later, I’m still doing the same thing I did on day one: designing journeys that sell, whether behind a glass window or on a phone screen.

What you’ll find on this blog

The history and theory of window display (Gene Moore, Leïla Menchari, Barthes’s semiotics applied to the window), real cases of brands doing visual merchandising well and others doing it badly, analysis of phygital retail trends, and every now and then some personal opinion on what’s happening in the industry: the rise of artificial intelligence in store design, the impact of Shein and Temu on local commerce, or a tribute to figures who have shaped this profession.

This isn’t a corporate BARRONVISUAL blog dressed up as content. It’s my judgment, with my name behind it.
